MUSICAL COMPETITIONS.
Tlio Masterton Musical and Elocutionary Competitions Society is to Die congratulated upon the splendid entries received for its inaugural competitions. No better proof of the interest manifested in the institution could be afforded than the fact that three hundred and fifty entries have been received, and that these have come from all parts of the Dominion. The influx of visitors to the town will act a« a stimulus to business and an advertisement to the district, while the entertainment and education which will be provided should at once appeal to the community., It is to be hoped that the public will show, by its response to the appeal that is being made for trophies, and by its attendance at tho competitions,, that the efforts of the promoters of the festival are genuinely appreciated.
