EXPERIMENTAL FARMS.
A few weeks back some questions were asked in these columns concerning the experimental farms of the Dominion. The Minister for Works told a deputation on Friday that these farms are being run at a loss; but he alleged that the loss was justified on account of the educational -value of the work done. The taxpayers have a right to know what the actual loss has been, and how far the country has beiiefited by the education imparted. This information will probably not be given. In its absence, the people will form their own conclusions. There are not a few who think that the Dominion .would derive infinitely greater advantages if the State farms were sold and the experimentis conducted privately in different part® of the country, under the supervision of qualified Government officials.
