MASTERTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
MEETING OF COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Council of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday afternoon, there being present: MessrsF. W. Carey (Chairman), J. B. Keith, A. Henderson, J. B. Moodie, W. B. Cliennells, J. C. Ewington, and R. Brown. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs M. Caselberg, W. E. Chamberlain, C. Graham, G. W. Sellar, and G. C. Summerell,
The Treasurer reported a credit balance at date of £1 Os Id. Communications were received from the Masterton, Eketahuna, and Featherston County Councils in reference to the proposed deviation of "the Rimutaka railway. The Wellington Chamber of Commerce forwarded a circular letter in reference to a proposed alteration in the first port of call for the Suez mails.
The Committee which had been appointed to consider the Bankruptcy Act. recommended that the resolution of the Dxnnevirke Chamber be approved. . On the motion of Mr A. Hendert on. it was decided that the President and Secretary draft a letter to rhe Featherston County Council, further explaining the proposals in regard to the R.imutaka deviation.
On the motion of Mr J. B. Keith, it was decided that, this Chamber of Commerce is strongly in favour of the nronosal of the Wellington Chamber in regard to the Suez mail contract. •>nd will do all in its power to support it.
