FIELD COMPETITIONS.
THE SUTTON CUP. The results of the Field Competition in connection with the Masterton A. and P. Association are now available. There were six entries, and Mr Walter Cameron proved the winner of the silver cup presented by Messrs Sutton and Son for the best crop of swedes, flat or ridged. The cup is to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals. The maximum points for the swedes were: —Weight 50, quality 30, evenness 10, one point ibeing allowed for each ton per acre. For the mangolds the maximum points were:— Weight 80, „ quality 10, evenness 10, cultivation and cleanliness 10. Details are as under:'— SWEDES (Flat). Mir W. Cameron, plot 1, weight 34.3, quality 25, evenness 6, cultivation 7, total 72.3. Mr W. Cameron, plot 2, weight 30.05, quality 18, evenness 5, ciM- » vaitdon 7, total 60.05. SWEDES (Ridge). Mr J. T. Dagg's plot, weight 32.15, quality 20, evenness 9, cultivation 9, total 70.15. Mr J. Hunter's plot, weight 26.9,. quality 21, evenness 8, cultivation 8, total 63.0. MANGOLDS. Mr J. Hunter's plot, weight 45.6, quality 8, evenness 6, cultivation and cleanliness 7, total 66.7. Messrs C. Shaw and R. J. Dagg were the judges.
