PHYSICAL CULTURE.
NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION FORMED. ] A meeting to form a New Zealand Physical Culture Association was : held on Friday, at Mr F. A. Horniihrook's physical culture school, Christdmrch. Mr C. R. Woledge was chairman, and .amongst those present were Lieutenant-Colonel Hawkins, Drs J. R. Thomas, W. F. Browne, N. Guthrie, and J. F. Dun- j can. It was decided that the Asociastion > should he registered as "The New Zealand Physical Culture Association," • and that the Association should he formed for the purpose of i governing.New Zealand physical oul-' ture championships. Mr F. A. Hornibrook <was elected i honorary secretary of the Association. A managing committee was appointed as .follows : Messrs .Gurnet Sinus and M. Jurdss (Wellington), F. Czar (Napier), R. O. Jarret* (representing the Young Men's Christian Association of Masterton), R. Meecham tAshihurtotiV, J. Northey (Dunedin), and R. Veitch and F. A. Hornibrook (Ghristehurch). ~ A judging committee( was appointed as follows: Lieut-Colonel Hawkins, Mr C. R. Woledge and Mr R. Herdman-S<mith, and Drs. W. F. Browne, W. H. Simpson, N. Guthrie, J. F. Duncan, J. R. Thomas and J. D. Marks. The following suggestions were recommended to the Managing Committee;— That the first Physical Development Championship for New Zealand should Abe held in Ohrdshchureh next October; Ibat the competitions should: consist of best-developed man (gold medal), best, developed man under lOst (gold medal); that three judges should be appointed by the Judging Committee, and that these judges should apoint a referee; that all competitors must produce medical certifitf-ates of fitness. Dr Thomas and Messrs C. R. Woledge, R. VeiAch and F. A. Hornibrook were appointed a sub-commit-tee to draw uj> rules for (governing the competitions, to he submitted to the Managing Committee for aproval.
