BOXING.
MASTERTON TOURNAMENT, The, Mastertoii Boxing Club hok! their first tournament at the Town HaJI on p.m., when utiles programme to be submitted will prove one of the best yet arranged in the Wairarapa. One of the principal items is a five-round contest for a trophy presented by the Club, between F. Kerr, the New Zealand feather-weight champion, and Bert Treweek, champion of Southland, and now of Palmenston North. Critics consider the, latter boxer- to be a strong candidate for this year's Dominion Championship, and the Mastenton Club are to be congratulated on securing the meeting beforehand. It mill be remembered that Kerr gave a splendid exhibition of scientific boxing at last year's championships, when he beat Shields, after an extra rounfi had been fought Treweek has only suffered one defeat, and has knocked out O'Shea (Auckland), beat Ben Tracey (brother of Tim Tracey) and drawn with Shields. Another capital maitch for a £3 3s.trophy is the Barr-Fergus-son 5-round contest;. The local lad is in great form, and may be depended upon to give the HawkeVßay bantam champion a warm welcome to the WaiWrapa.
