SUPREME COURT.

NELSON, Last Night. Tjie Supreme Court opened here to-day, before Mr .Justice Chapman. There was only one criminal case on the list, a man named Edwin Arnold being indicted with having unlawful carnal knowledge of an imbecile woman. The accused was found guilty, and sentenced to two years' imprisonment, and declared an habitual criminal. In the case of Kathleen Cross v. Ivanlioe McFarkne, both of Motueka, a claim for- £IOO for slander, no defence was filed. His Honor gave judgment for plaintiff for £75.
