It would seem that to sell milk without a license is quite .as iserious an offence a<s it is to .sell sly grog, for anyone who sells milk other than that obtained from a registered dairy 'is liable to a penalty of £SO. Peter Jensen, of Green Island Bush, farmer, appeared before the Court in Dunedin on Friday last on a charge that on May sth he did sell milk other than obtained from a registered dairy. He .said that he took the run over only recently, and did not know the law. ;Mr R. Fountain, dairy inspector, said the Department did not press, for a. heavy penalty'. They had no reason to say that the milk sold by Jensen was not good. The case would serve as a warning to others. The Bench imposed a fine of 20s and costs.
