The Prime Minister, with the assistance of Dr Findlay, has induced the Imperial Conference to approve of legislation' with the object of ■ reciprocating the law in regard to wife deserters. At present a man who leaves New Zealand: for another part of the British Empire practically escapes all punitive treatment, and. rids-himself of his domestic responsihilities. If a general law can .be initroduced which will remedy this defect, a good service wil have been done the whole of the Empire. . - .
