COMPULSORY TRAINING.
The Acting-Minister of Defence (the Hon. Q. Fowlds) has made the following announcement on the subject of the possible disabilities of dairy and other farmers under the compulsory training scheme:— "When'the registration is completed,- and the posting of youths to units for training begins, every consideration will be given by the. Defence author'* vies to the difficulties which may exist in certain causes of complying until the Act, owing to the nature of anyone's employment. Training tar-, ades in the farming districts will be arranged to suit tbe slack seasons, and everything possible will l>e done to meet the requirements of 10-al industries. It is not considered likely, therefore, that the training wh'.eh the young men will be required to un • dergo will inconvenience to any great extent the .majority of fanners.'"
