SOUTH WAIRARAP.A TROTTING CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. (By Our Own Corresponcfent.) The annual meeting in connection with tlie South Wairarapa Trotting Club was held on the Moroa Racecourse, near Greyitown, on Saturday last, and proved one of the most successful gatherings ever held under the auspices of the Club. The weather was fine, though threatening. The attendance was variously estimated at from 1500 to 2000, and the gathering was of a most orderly character. The course was an splendid order, and the racing was good throughout, some of . the finishes notably that in the Mahupuku Memorial Trot— being most exciting. The arrangements were satisfactorily carried out by the secretary (Mr Walter Armstrong) , and an energetic body of stewards. Mr Hugh Morrison acted as judge, and Mr A. Comette as starter. Both of these officials gave every satisfaction. A sum of £3223 was put through the tot-alisator. which is an increase of about £I3OO on the amount invested at the pre • vious meeting. This was the best race of the day. Katie G. and Butterfly led for the first round, but in the last imile Hova audi Allwood came very fast. A ding-dong race took place down the straight between the three placed horses, Allwood eventually squeezing home by a neck, , and half a length separating second and tihird horses. This race proved rather a soft thing for Bingana, who • went to the front before a mile had been -reached, and, though challenged! by Hauruia in the straight, won with several seconds to -spare.
