THE NEW HEBRIDES.
ANGLO-FRENCH POSITION.

LONDON, June 3
The Hon. E. Batehelor, Minister of External Affairs for the Commonwealth, interviewed with reference to the Anglo-French position in _ regard to the New Hebrides, declared that his Government was endeavouring to. promote a great menace to trade. It would ha.ve been better if Mr Fisher had not displayed such a desire to be convinced. He had come under the Home Minister'® pressure, and drifted away from Australian opinion. The Australians would find it hard to forgive their delegates for standing aside. He would not' have forgiven 'them had he voted.
