The latest return from the Masterton dredge is 22ozs. Bdwts. for 123 hours' work.

Ploughing 1 operations are again m full swing in the Masterton and Wairarapa districts.

Doer are reported to be increasing on the Tararua ranges. Several have lately been seen on the lower slopes.

Mr R. Patterson, of Masterton, won the huntaway event at the Championship Sheep Dog Trials at Dannevirke yesterday, with the dog "Bruce." Quite a number of farms in Southland have changed hands recently, and these have mostly been transferred to new owners at a substantial increase in values as compared with those ruling twelve months ago.

The Southland Provincial Conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union has passed a resolution requesting the Government to remove all restrictions from the shooting of hares. The population of Auckland City and suburbs within a ten-mile radius of the General Post Office,..totals up to 117,685, according to the census just taken.

The meeting of stewards of the Masterton Club, to have been held to-morrow, has been postponed till Saturday, June 10, on account of the holiday.
