DOG TRIALS.
DANNEVIRKE, .Last Night
The first annual championship meeting under the auspices of L he North Island Dog Trials Associate .m commenced at Maharahara to-day. Over one hundred entrfes have bun received from all over New Zealand, a specially strong contingent com.ng from Canterbury. Mr W. S r Rutherford, of Culverdcn, is acting as judge. The championship for the long head event resulted as-follows: —R. Pollock's (Christc-hu.vh) "SJiarp" 29 points, 1; A. A. Eraser's (Christehurch) "Southern .Sra;" 2; W. Whyte's (Wiaipawa) "Boy" 27, 3; J. McDonald's (Damievirko) "Don," 26, 4. There were thirtyeight competitors.
