PURE SEEDS BILL.

The Farmers' Union, at its conference at Woodville on Tuesday, decided to request the Government to introduce a Pure Seeds Bili. This decision was arrived at in view of tlhe alarming .spread of Oalifornaan thistle and other noxious weeds. It did not appear to dawn upon the farmers present that they are themselves largely responsible for the distribution of inferior seeds. Instead of demanding the purest locally-grown seeds o',tainable, and paying the price for them, farmers too frequently accept an inferior imported article because, forsooth, it is a little cheaper. All the same, it would pay the farmer to have inspectors of noxious seeds instead of inspectors of noxious -weeds. To have both would be rather a costly matter.
