CITIZENS' LEAGUE.
WELLINGTON, Last Night
Mr C. P. Skerrett, K.C., was elected president at the genera] meeting, to-night, of the newly-formed Citizens' League. A policy was agrged. to as „ follows: —'To closely watch all social'movements and pro-' paganda, and keep fuHy informed thereof; to take all steps within its power to ensure that laws' and regulations shall be formulated,, executed and administrated, by moderate and honourable citizens and to oppose the election or appointment of , un-suit-able persons to any office in particular; to oppose any reduction in the three-fifths majority in connection with naional or local opposition; to oppose: any attempt to abolish the sale of liquor altogether; and to support all reasonable regulations of the liquor traffic.; to oppose, cany further restriction on reasonable! gaming by adults; to oppose any restriction on enjoyment by individuals of reasonable recreation on Sunday."
