FARMERS' UNION CONFERENCE.
TIMARU, Last NigHrfc. The aainual conference of t<he South Canterbury JWnueors' Union to-day, wUiidh was largely attended, discussed the question of affiliation with the Employers' Union, which was disapproved, fear being involved in the industrial awards. The proposal to form a. political party connected with the Union was also disapproved, hut it was' decided to refer the information on the subject to the branches for consideration. Several farmers expressed a, strong objection to the new railway regulations regarding tihe delivery of goods to small stations on certain days only as a cause of inconvenience, when goods were wanted urgently, such as bags ait threshing time. Mr John Talbot was re-elected President to represent t3ie< Uni<)a at ( the Dominion .Conference.."' * At* a' subsequent ■ luncfcefcn, Mr Turner, Piresidenit of tthe local Emjfloyars''' 'Association, assured the farmers that industrials wanted a® little to do with the Arbitration Court as possible.
