EMPIRE DAY.

COMMEMORATION AT ST. MAT-! THEWS. On Sunday next, .Empire Day will bo commemorated at Masterton by tha holding of a 'service for men in Sit. Matthew's Church, at 3.45 in the afternoon. The sea-vice iviiill be conducted by the Vicar (Rev. H. Wiaitson, M.A.), and the Battalion Band will play the special hymns provided .for the occasion. Both, local volunteer corps will be represented, and many of the Friendly Societies have signified their intention to be present. A welcome is extended to all men to take part in the proceedings, and no doubt there will be a hearty response.
