PAHIATU A. A. AND P. ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING,
The Pahiatua-Akitio A. and P. Association held its annual'meeting on Tuesday evening. The meeting was ! presided over by Mr J. C. Cooper, the retiring president. Tho chairman announced that Mr A. McFarlane had been elected president, unopposed. Eulogistic references were made to the valuable services of the secretary, Mr Walsh, by Captain Whyte and Messrs Ross and McLennan. Mr Walsh was granted a bonus of ten'guineas. Mr C. A. Burgess was re-elected treasurer, and Mr Cooper was unanimously elected an honorary life member of the Association. The following general committee was appointed:—Messrs N. Avery, T. Boyd, J. P. Beech, J. Bourke, P. Bissett, M. Galvin, P. Halliday, R. Halifrerben, L. Johansen, J. Manson, W. W .McCardle, K. J. McLennan, J. Matthews, J. McCarthy, S. V. Rodney, W. D. Tavlor, F. H. Vincent, W. Wakeman, W. H. Yule, J. D. Wilson, J. Y. Crawford. Messrs J. G. Brechni, A. Ross, C. Avery and Captain Whyte were elected vice-presidents, unopposed. A resolution was passed recommending the committee to consider Hall's estate as a suitable showground, and in the event oi it receiving favourable consideration a deputation representing the Borough Council, the County Council, the Chamber of Commerce, and the A. and P. Association will wait on the member and urge the Government to acquire the ground as a public park and scenic reserve.
