CASTLEPOINT COUNTY.
[To The Editor,, i Sir, — In reply to Mr Daziell's letter of ,tlhe 14tih dnj&t., an wluiich lie isays that I know nothing of the financial position of the district when it was part of the old North Wairarapa County, also that all ratepayers are paying at least double' ohe amount of rates to the .present Council that they paid to the old Council, I maintain that <any roan who pays rates as lorig as I have knows a little about the financial position, and I ban also prove to Mr Daaidil that'we'are not paying double the rates.' On the 17ith March, 1900, I paid rates to the Wairarapa North Comity Council amounting to £8 0s Id, 'and on the 14th March, 1900, to the Castlepoint Road Board £4 lis 2d. My 1910 rates to the present Oasitlepoimfc County Council wore £l2 18s Bd. So you will see by these figures that the difference between 1900 and 1910 is only Gs lid. I w'iil he pleased to show these receipts to any interested ratepayer.— I am, etc., ' W. H. BROOKS.
