(Received May 22, 8.5 a.m.) ""PARIS, May 21. The aviation race, Paris to Madrid, began to-day. There were twenty starters, beside nine military aviators, the latter going to the frontier only. At the start an aviator, in avoiding a collision, swerved, and the machine fell on to a group of Ministers and officers. Mons. Monis, the Premier and Mons. Breteaux, Minister of War, were seriously injured. Monis' condition is grave, and there are no signs of life. Berteaux subsequently died. His injuries resulted from his being struck by the propeller.
