1 HELPLESS CRIPPLE Dne of the Worst Cases on Record. A. Nurse in Attendance Night and Day. Wheeled About in an Invalid's Chair—Expected to be a Cripple for Life—This Woman Cured by Dr. Williams' Pink Pills.
A worse case of rheumatism can hardly be imagined than was endured by Mrs Charles F. Carter. For some months she was a complete cripple, a nurse in attendance night and day, and the only outing she had was when she was wheeled about in an invalid's chair. Her right leg was drawn up so that it could not be straigntened. Mrs Carter, after enduring much agony was cured by Dr. Williams' Pink Pills, and she has given the following statement for the benefit of other sufferers. , "I had four attacks of rheumatic fever in my life, and rheumatism set in four years back in my right knee. It first came for a few days in my arm, then the left knee, and finally settled in the right. I suffered such pain that I thought I could not live. I fell away dreadfully. I turned a yellow colour. I could not eat, even the daintiest food seemed beyond me. I was in bed for months, and at last I was quite crippled. I would scream if the nurse even went near me, even to change the bed linen. I was too weak to move or sit up. I lay on one side for six weeks. The knee swelled tremendously, and all the skin turned black and discoloured, f took chlorodyne till it lost all effect, for I could not sleep without a sedative. I would lie awake at night for hours. Th 9 doctor said I had Arthritis of the joints. I never thought to walk again. The right leg drew up till the heel touched the calf of the other leg, and it simply could not be straightened. Friends thought I was hopelessly paralysed. I used to be wheeled out in an invalid's chair for fresh air. The leg was bandaged in flannel and lint from above the knee to the foot. I had the knee in screw splints, and I slept with a pillow under it. Friends used to call and fairly give way when they found how altered I was and what pain I was suffering night and day. My husband was dreadfully worried. They wanted me to go to the hospital and have the leg put in irons, I was wheeled down, and they said it was a case for the surgeon, so I told them to wheel me back
home, and I would dio there. I had four different doctors, but they had practically to give the ease up. I had been suffering for eight months when I read of Dr. Williams' Pfink Pills. I hadn't any faith in them, but thought they couldn't hurt me. The second box improved my appetite and gave me strength. The benefit after the second box continued. I was walking on two crutches, and presently I could leave off one crutch, and then I relied on a stick. I was simply over-joyed when I found only erne crutch was needed, for I never thought to walk again. I got better with every box. I recovered so completely that I was able to take up business again, and have had charge of a city business also for the last eighteen months, besides that we have our own business in this centre." Mrs Carter resides afc 55 St. John Street, Prahan, Melbourne, where she is well and favourablv known.
