THE MARRIAGE TIE.
A somtewhat interesting discussion took place in tihieis© columns some 'weeks back on the question of divorce. This question is now .'being 'discussed in vary .many of tine newspapers of (the Dominion. The Rangitikei Advocate says:— Whatever opinioni imay be held on. tlie subject of divorce there can he no question tlliat recent legislation has caused a rush to the Court for disiselutdon of the (marriage tie. It is noticeable also that in many.case® the plea is 'desertion. "Till death' do us part" is evidently now a superfluity in the 'marriage service, and a New Zealand •Enodh Arden might confidently expeat on his return to find Ms wife mated" with Phillip. It is also a significant fact, which has been commented upon by our Judges, that offences of a sexual nature show a remarkable increase in number. Whether this result is also due to legislation is worth inquiry. Tlie indif cation; seems to he that slackening the marriage tie does not conduce to morality.
