EXEMPTION OF TERRITORIALS.

It appears that a Territorial is exempt from service as a furor. The point was raised at ChristtchTiiidh the other day, and George B. Evans was absolved from service on the ground that he was a Territorial. Mr Stringer, K.C., quoted- iseotaoii 10 of the Defence Act, which provides that all imemibens of the Defence Force except members of. Defence Rifle Clubs are absolved from serving on juries. Mr Justice Dehniston said the provision had siimply been put in as an indulgence, but it had the effect of robbing them of the best men on the jury. The names of Territorials were on the jury list, and so would lead to trouble and .confuse, ion, and the result would he thai they would not have enough men to serve on juries.
