TE WHAHA'U.
In common with other places, Te Wharau experienced very heavy ram ast week, but beyond a few small -ilips, practically no damage was dono to tho roads. Two visitors from Masterton " last week expressed surprise at the excellent road from Carterton to Te Wharau. They quite expected to travel for the greater part of tho journey through the proverbial "sea of mud," and were agreeably surprised. Mr W. C. Buchanar^#j|[., addressed tlia electors of in the schoolroom on and although the meeting was not very well advertised a fair number of people were present. Mr Buchanan's address was listened to with interest, and he dwelt with matters of great importance to the settlers, and covered moat of the work done in the House during the last two years. Mr Buchanan received a hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion of his meeting. Mr M. J. McGregor occupied the chair. The Te Wharau Rifle Club intend holding a shoot on May 20th, when some valuable trophies, presented by a member of the Club, will bo competed for.
The -i friends of Mr T. F. York, of Bankview, who met with rather a, nasty accideYit last week while working with a shearing machine, will be/pleased to learn that he is about again. Messrs Johnson and Harrison, of Stansborough, have gone to spend their winter vacation in Wellington.
