NEW ZEALAND FORECAST.

WELLINGTON, Last Night;
Tha Meteorological Office this even-' ing issued the following summary and forecast: —
The barometric pressure continues > , high in the south, but is falling steadily there to-day. A low pressure area . has developed off East Cape, causing rain on tho East Coast and increasing foice in the south-easterly winds, which have prevailed northward of Hokitika and Kaikoura. Fine weather has-been experienced in the South Island. Present indications are for rain and stormy weatherh on the East Coast, between East Cape and Kaikoura, I and unsettled weather in the north,-' but fair weather will probably con- I tinue elsewhere. The barometer will ] probably fall steadily everywhere, with strong south-easterly winds northward of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and easterly winds, moderate to strong, elsewhere, changing to northerly after 24 hours.
