THE JAPANESE EXPEDITION

It transpires that the commander of the Japanese Antarctic expedition has returned to Japan, to furnish his Government with an account of tho causes.of : the failure of the expedition. A.member of tho party .stated that they realised that the vessel was not fitted for Polar exploration, and rhej expect that, as a result of the «mnomander's report, the party will be recalled to Japan within a few weeks. He added that the party was not thoroughly apprised of the conditions they would have to encounter in the Antarctic, and would be better prepared next time.
