(From Our Own Corresponderit.) The~late Mrs Keir, whose deathwas reported from Petone ocuFriday, was well-Known legally, being a' daughter" of the late Mr Hooker, a well-known settler of the district. Deceased, who was 84 years of age, always took a; keen interest in tho work of St. Mark's-Church, when" resident her?, and was a teacher in the .-Sunday School. At Petone, Mrs Keir continued her interest in the work of the Anglican Church, and was also a prominent member of the W.C.T.U. The bereaved family have the sympathy- of-a, large circle of Wairarapa mends'.'
At a meeting of the reaently formed Golf Club on Saturday, if was decided to-engage Mr A. R. Hadfiekl to prepare the links ready for the opening on Saturday next. Thrfee rollers are to bo procured for use on the links. Some niKeem new ..members were elected.
'. The local Brass Band played a programme of musio at the .Na+.ivo College, CJar,9ville ? on' Sunday afternoon last, which was fully appreciated by all who had the pleasure of listening.
