CELEBRATED AT Y.M.C.A. A fine gathering of members, with their mothers, attended the tea in honour of Mothers 5 Day at the Mas- . terton Y.M.C.A. yesterday afternoon. In the absence of ,Dr Prior, Mr 0. N. <J. Pragnell occupied the ; chair, • Miss L. E. Hampton delivered an interesting address, telling of the nuultifarious duties of a Another, and tite heroic deeds done between the four wals of home, her unselfish de-, votEon to her children, especially her sons, how much unloved and uncared for in the real sense, and how even in. spite of much discourtesy she was ever willing to help and to listen t» her boy in adveraty, swid how ever ready to praise in time of success. Mis® E. Jdlldams, 8.A., dealt with/ the subject of the "Home Influence," emphasising how much people owed; to their homes, and showing the influence of the home life upon, nations, the British nation in particular. Mr A. W. Hogg, M.P., said that too much bonoi* could not be done to mothers, who were doing a noble „ work in every community, and who . ■ were £he authors of the future. He spoke of the pioneering in New Zealand, which had in many cases been made possible by a mother's devotion. The speakers were accorded votes of ttoanks, as were also the soloists, .Mr C. Ibbetson and Master Stephen Bishop, and the ladies of the Methodist Church for supplying the provisions.
