ENGINE-DRIVERS' AWARD.
ARBITRATION COURT'S JUDG MENT. (Received Last Night, 10.15 o'clock.) MELBOURNE, May 7 The Federal Arbitration Court delivered judgment in the case of the Drivers' and Firemen's Association of Australia, a claim affecting a large number of the leading mines throughout the Commonvealth. Rates were fixed as follows: Locomotive and winding engine drivers, lis to 12s daily; other engine driv ers, 9s to 10s; firemen in charge of one boiler, 8s 4d; two boilers, 9s; greasers and cleaners, Bs. The court did not think the case was made out in preference for Unionists. The working hours were fixed at fortyeight weekly, excepting in the case of locomotive drivers, regarding whom it wa,s impossible to fix hours. The award operates for five years.
