BUILDING MATERIAL.
There .seents ,to be no limit to the uses of reinforced concrete in modern building operations. St. Mary's Anglican Church at Karon, the foundation stone of which was laid last month % Bishop Walls, is being built of this material. The roof of the new St. Atay-sius Roman, Catholic Church, Glasgow, is oanjsrfaructed of reinforced concrete. The nave roof has a clear span ojf 44ft Gin, and a length of 65ft, and is a semi-cdroulair arch. The advantages daimed for this style -of roof construction for obunchesi are tihe low cost of upkeep, and the ability to construct large barrel and domical roofs without unsightly trusses, tie-rods, and, so forth. The Oaraiegie Library at Llandudno, North Wales, is a (recently compfeted structure, in which reinforced concrete is used to any extent, the fact of .the building being fire-proof adding materially, to it» value for the purposes of a library. In Australasia reinfonoed concrete is in use for sea-walls, piers, piles, as well as warehouses and, large buildings; whilst, in America .Mr Edison is moulding complete houses which can be ready for occupancy in abouli forty-eight hours.
