FLOODS ON THE COAST.

MAILS DELAYED. . The rivers in the Ca&tlepoint and Whareama. districts are, as a result of re,ce<nit heavy rains, in very highflood. No sorious damage has been don 9. though the mails from the Coast were delayed for some considerable time, with the exception of the coach from Tinui. The driver of tlhe Tiinui coach waited for some time for the WHuajieama and Whakiataki mails, but eventually left without them.: These two latter miaiis, however, arrived in Master-ton at ten minutes to seven o'clock lajSt evening. The cause of the delay of the coaches was the Wimkataki river, which becomes very high when an exceptionally heavy rain occurs. The rain is reported te> be much lighter now than it wa® on Wednesday night, when there was a £remendotta downpour. All the mails will leave as usual to-day.
