NEW ZEALAND FORECAST.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Meteorological Office this evening issued the following summary and forecast*?—
Heavy rains have fallen in some parts northward of the East Cape and Kawhia, and rain has commenced in other districts of the North Island, while cloudy and hazy weather has spread elsewhere. High easterly winds have prevailed northward of East Cape and Kawhia, and variable winds generally.Present indications are for the passage of a storm area over the North Island, with heavy rain on the East Coast. Rivers flooded and heavy seas. High south-easterly winds are probable in the north, and strong southerly winds expected elsewhere shortly. Rain and unsettled \veather is probable generally, the barometer falling again shortly in the north, but rising in the south to-morrow.
