"AMBULANCE SATURDAY."
A SPLENDID RESULT.
Saturday last was set aparij as a special day for collecting funds in aid of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. A small contingent of workers, armed with collecting boxes, took up favourable positions on the main thoroughfarej and their efforts met with .success •• from sympathetic citizens. The total collection amounted to £37 in cash, -which will be shared' between the two-. Divisions. The revenue from this),source will, in the ladies' section, be devoted to reducing the fees for the-winter lecturea on First Aid and Home Nursing. Th® balance, which- goes to the men's will help to extinguish the debt existing on the ambulance brougham. The highest individual amount collected was £9 9s 6d by Mr S. Stewart, and little Gwen Crosbie came next with £8 8s 4d. The other collectors, who so ably assisted, were, Misses 'Joy, Mc-Ha-ttfey Jarrett, Thomas, Doris Miller, aM Thompson. ;
