\ MASTERTON—FRIDAY. (Before Mr L. G. Redd, S.M.) CRIMINAL SITTING.
A criminal sitting of the Masterton , Magistrate's Court was held yesterday, before Mr L. G. Reid, S.M. John Henderson, was charged with j drunkenness, and with using ob- I scene language in a public street | within the hearing of the public. Accused stated that he was under ! the influence of liquor at the time, and did hot remember the occurr- \ ence. His Worship, imposed a fine of 20s, in default seven days' imprisonment, on each charge. - Thomas Wilson was charged with having driven a vehicle within the Borough between the hours of sunset and sunrise without a light. Be waa fined 5s and costs 7s. Charles Evans, Carterton, was charged with driving ia motor car at an excessive speed in a. pubMc highway. A fine of 2s 6d was imposed, (with-, costs 7s. Percy Withers * appeared on a charge of having exceeded the speed, limit while driving a motor car in a puihlic; "* Accused was fined 5s and costs 18s. James Brown, junr., was charged with a Breach of the by-laws in having ridden a bicycle within the Borough between the hours of sunset and sunrise without a light. He was fined 5s and; 7s costs. Walter. Webb was fiiieid 2s 6d andcost® 7s on a similar charge. A like case was heard, against Roy Grey, who was fined 5s and oosts 75.. B. Lethiwick was charged with having allowed < his -. chimney to catch on fire. A fine of Is and costs 7s was imposed...
