AN APPRECIATION.
[To The. Editor, i
Sir,— It was vei-y pleasing to me, as a resident of the south! end of Masterton, to' read in this morning-'s issue of your paper, the kindly and well-merited remarks uttered by the Mayor and other Councillors, with reference to .ex-Councillor Morris' past good work for Masterton. As a resident of this end of the town, I hope it will not" be. out of place to point to some meritorious improvements that have*be"n almost entire-ly-due to.Mr Morris' continued persistency. To wit, Kuripuni Street (formerly termed Lane), Makora Road (a dirty, narrow right-of-way), Michael Street (formerly a "mud ally," and well "termed), Colombo Road, and Pownall Street. All of these are now a credit j to. the town, and are mainly due to the unabating efforts of Mr Morris. I, with many others, "regret the loss of Mr Morris as a Councillor.— I am, etc., SOUTH END SETTLER.
