Mr Nathan Lieber, who has been a resident of Mastertcn for twenty-two years, died on Tuesday it tho age of 54. Tho deceased was born at Buehl, in Germany, and lived in Dnnedin before settling in Wellington.
An old colonist, Mrs Ralph, passed peacefully away it ]\lt. Albert, Auckland, at ih-» ripe of 90 years. Mrs Ralph came to New Zealand in the ship Joh-i Duncan, and has lived at tho Thames. Waitehauri, and East Tamaki. Her busband predeceased her six years ago. Mrs Ralph leaves one son, one daughter, ten grandchildren, and tw« great grandchildren.
General Booth returned to London at the beginning of last month, after a five weeks' preaching tour in Germany, Holland, Italy, and Switzerland. He kept every engegement, and was in excellent health.
Mrs Readme, wife-of the Rqv. W. Ready, who was seriously injured by her leap front the balcony of the parsonage in Hopetoun Street, Auckland, on the occasion of the recent fire, is making favourable progress, but her recovery will necessarily take some time. It has been ascertained by means of the X-rays that both ankles were broken in the same place.
The death is announced, at the age of 65, of Mr John M'Comb, an old Oamaru resident, his demise taking place at "Strahane," Caulfield, Victoria.

Ivens, of Kenilworth, England, with Miss Edith Mary Bourne, youngest daughter of tho late Walter Bourne, M.D., and Mrs Bourne, of Para, Cheltenham, and granddaughter of the late John Judkin Fitz Gerald. Latest reports from the South contain thq pleasing information that Mrs Tai Te Tau, of Masterton, is making satisfactory progress towards recovery from her recent severe illness.
Messrs Redmond, Donovan, and HazeJton, the Irish delegates, will arrive in Masterton by tho mid-day train from Wellington to-day. The late Mr E. J.Riddiford leaves three sous arid three daughters, besides a largo number of other relatives. Mr O. C. Cooper, of Masterton, is a nephew of the deceased.
Mr Basil Foster-Pratt, second son of Mr J. R. Foster-Pratt, of Palmerston North, died on Tuesday morning, after unlorgoing ai operation for appendicitis. The deceased was only twenty-two years of age.
Mr Ben Iveson, of Masterton, is confined to his house with a severe attack of quinsey.
Inspectors Fleming and Tennant, of the Wellington Education Board, paid an inspectional visit to the' Masterton District High School yesterday.
Tho friends of Mr W. D. Lyshar, Mayor of Gisbome, who recently visited Masterton in connection with the frozen meat industry, will regret to hear that, as a result of consultation with eminent specialists in Wellington, it was found necessary to yesterday remove one of his eyes.
