WELLINGTON RACES.

OPENING DAY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Wellington Racing Club's Autumn Meeting was opened in doubtful weather, with a email attendance. The heavy going was against good times. The totaiisaior investmenxs for the day amounted -to £13,045, as against £12,470 last year. Results: —

First Hurdles Handicap, one mile and threequarters, 100 sovs.— R. McDougall's Sunray, 9.12 (F. Flynne) 1; G. Hume's Bally Shannon 9.5 (A. Rores) 2 ■ Whitestone 9.0, 3. Also ran— Tojrbelle 9.10, and British Rifle 9.0. Sunray took up the lead after half a mile was traversed, and won by three lengths. Waiwetu Handicap, seven furlongs, 125 sovs.— J. J. Bracken 8.11 G(. Delaney), 1; W. Riordan's Toanga 8.9, 2 5 Wm. Halley's Hilarian 8.0, 3. Also ran.—lrish Rifle 9.13, Flingot 9.2, St. Felix 8.13, and Mira 8.0. Bracken led all the way, and won by two lengths, Silverstream Handicap, seven furlongs, 100 sovs.— C. Ross' Deploy 7.12 (Emmerson) 1; J. Matthews' Longwood 8.5, 2; V. Easton's Mou;toa Girl 7.7, 3. Also ran,— Floater 9.0, Brown Trout 8.11, Canterbury 8.0, Laius 7.12, Odessa and Silver Bullet 7.7, Icel 7.2, Retainer 7.0, Foreshot and St. Brandon 7.6., Deploy took the; lead from the start, and was never troubled.

Thompson Handicap, one mile. 500 sovs.—T. Puru's Equitas 9.2 (W. Young) 1; D. Buick's Vibration 6.10 2; T. F. Goddard's Mulga Bill 6.10, 3. Also ran— Iranui 8.9, Full Rate 8.12, Sharpshooter 8.5, VioerAdmiral 8.4, Gipsy Belle 7.12, Dearest 7.9, My Lawyer 7.9, Wimmera 7.6, Woodhey 7.8, Genius 7.6, Kauroa 7.3, Sea Queen 7.0, Gunboat 6.13, and Lady Moutoa 6.7.
