GOVERNMENT SCHOOL SUBSIDIES.
TIMARU, Last Night
The Education Board to-day appointed a sub-committee to draw up a memorandum on the unequal treatment of High Schools and District High Schools, which receive a, Government subsidy of £ for £ on voluntary subscription and primary schools, which get'nothing. The case of the Timaru Main School was mentioned, which raised £SOO one year for teachers' Saturday classes. The Board received application from 38 for elementary agriculture and school gardening, 9 for C certificate in agriculture, the latter numbier being regarded as disappointing.
