A COUNTY CLERKSHIP.
AND THE SCHOOL TEACHER. A letter was read from the headmaster of the Tinui school, at the .meeting of the Wellington Education Board yesterday, stating that he was acting temporarily as Clerk of the Castlepoint County Council, and asking permission to continue to act, until the ibooks cf the Council are ill order. Mr Buchanan moved that the headteacher be granted permission to act as so Jong as his services are required by the County Council. Mr Hogg seconded the motion. Mr Vile opposed the resolution on the ground that it was establishing, a verv dangerous precedent. There were fourteen applicants for the position of Cl?rk to the Castlepoint County, and surely one of these would have been found suitable. Me agreed that teachers were paid small salaries in the baekbloeks, but if they allowed one teacher to take outside work, thry must allow the whole. The motion of Mr Buchanan was carrieU, Mr Vile dissenting.
