NEW ZEALAND FORECAST.

WELLINGTON, Last Night; The Meteorological Office this evening issued the following summary and forecast:— The barometer has been unsteady in the southernmost districts, but rose steadily last night.- Elsewhere moderate and variable winds have prevailed with a. predominance of westerlies and northerlies. Heavy rain fell in the middle districts of the North Island last night, and showers were reported in parts this morning, but the weather has improved generally to-day. Present indications are for increasing northerly and westerly winds; fair weather in northernmost and East Coast districts, but changeable elsewhere, with showers in parts, especially in the far south and West Coast of the South Island. A falling barometer is anticipated in the south, but little movement in the northernmost districts.
