COMPARISONS.
The ; Carterton paper, following the lead given it in another quarter, is attempting to make comparisons between the condition of Carterton and Masterton. Now, Carterton is a well-governed township. It has a very fine district behind it, and an enterprising body of citizens. And although its progress, like that of other Wairarapa townships—notably Greytown and Pahiatua—has been somewhat checked of late, it has a good future before it. When, however, the Carterton paper says that the sewage, gas, and water supply systems of Carterton are superior to those of Masterton, one can only say that the commendable patriotism of the neighbouring journal has led it to draw very considerably upon its imagination. The ■ wonder, is that it did not conclude by saying, "And all this is due tb fTo-license in Masterton!"
