AMUSEMENTS.

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES '

There was a good audience at the » Foresters' Hall last evening, to witness the second presentation of the current programme. The subjects submitted met with the l general approval of those present. "In the Kentucky Mountains" was a vitagraph study of exceptional merit, while "His Sister-in-law" was a touching drama. "From Shadow to Sunshine" was. a pathetic story of stage life. A military drama, ''Toxinmy Atkins," was particularly inter esting, a pleasing vein of humou: and a touching love story running' through it. Some splendid comics were screened, while the soenics were first rate. This excellent programme will be repeated for the last time tonight, On Monday evening the change of programme will include "Hearts and Politics" (a charming Lubjn drama), "On the Mexican Border" (showing Mexicans and Indian halfbreeds in their reckless and daring horsemanship); "Through the Clouds" (a startling Edison aeroplane drama); "The (a Sterling Essanay study); ' From Dawn to Sunset" (a lovely scenic),; "Davy Jones' Domestic Troubles" (a vitagraph comedy), and "Recreations of an Heiress" (one of the famous A.B. Company's comedies).

MR J. C. WILLIAMSON'S COMPANY.

VIA WIRELESS.

On. Wednesday, May 17th, Mr J. C Williamson's new London Dramatic Company, composed mainly of English artists, specially selected by Mr Williamson himself, will present the latest thing Jin. high-class melodrama, in the .shape of "Via Wireless." Writes the critic of the-Syd-ney Referee about ' 'Via Wireless": —"We had nothing better in the way of high-class drama than 'Via Wireless.' Nothing more realistic than the steel works with the furnaces in full blast, in the gun casting episode in the second act, and the rescue of passengers- by the s.s. Mongolian after wireless messages have been exchanged, | s is also a remarkable achievement on the part of the producer. Then there is in the thltd act the great novelty of a wireless machine working, and tile great thrill in the play is that which agitates the audience while the operator on the 'Mongolian' is answering the almost despairing calls of the doomed little craft. The 'wireless' business, leaving something to the imagination as it does, is wonderfully effective." The box plan will be opened jit Miss Rive's on Saturday, May 13th.
