LOCAL INDUSTRIES.
ITo The Editor.'] Sir _ Masterton's one great want jjust now is, a movement in favour of local industries. The Chamber of Commerce has been ineffectually wrestling with the problem for some years. Would it not be possible for the Borough Council to take a hand in the matter, and give the town a lead? The Council might procure information which would be of great value, and which would induce private individuals to embark upon profitable enterprises. Can you tell me, sir, if such a movement would be outside the functions of the Council?— lam, etc., RATEPAYER.
