WELCOME SOCIAL.
AT MASTERTON METHODIST . CHURCH.
At'vthejMasterton Methodist Church last evening, a large number of members and'<a<pterents gathered to welcome tjhe R|av.. S. J. Serpell and family, and Mif ! F.E>. Parsons. Mr 0. N. CJ Pfagrtell presided. Apologies for absence were received from the Revs. H. Watson and W. Raine, and Messrs Perrin, A* JV Minifie, and J. Elliott. Qn behalf of the circuit, the chairman welcomed the gentlemen, stating that the 5 people were confident of ' the success of %e Church work under the two new leaders. • Addresses of welcome were also delivered by Messrs C. E. Daniell, on behalf of the Sunday School, Mr W. Rodgers, Kuripimi, Mr A. Snowball, Y.M.C.A., the Rev. A. T. Thompson, Knox Church, the Rev. A. Hodge, Congregational Church, and Ensign Avenell, Salvation Army. All the speakers delivered excellent addresses, and extended a mast cordial welcome to Mr Serpell, Lis family, and Mr Parsons, wishing them success in their work in the town- / The Rev. Mr Serpell and Mr Parsons responded to the welcome. Mr Serpell was happy and optimistic in his reply, and thanked the people for their kind welcome. During tlie evening a pianpforte solo was rendered by Miss Jones, A.T.C.L., and songs were sung by Mr H. Allen, and Miss Edwards, A.T.C.L. A. very pleasant evening was brought to a: close after light refreshment*, provided by the ladies, had been partaken of.
