A man named; Victor Gaubert has been arrested on a charge of murdering his wife Eliza, in the village of Lappene, near Marseilles,, under circumstances resembling those of the Crippen murder. , Mrs Gaubert disappeared in October, her husband alleging, that she had gon& to Mauritius. . Later, he announced her death,: and married Antonio Sidolles,- a village girl, who had left her home. While effecting some repairs to achouse, workmen noticed .that some tiles, in the scullery were uneven. ; On investigation, they discovered the body of Eliza Gaubert;: Gaubert states that his wife and he had a violent altercation over Antonio, and sh<? (his Avife) suddenly dropped .dead. . Fearing nrrfisV i.e buried the body. ./
