MASTERTON STOCK SALES.

Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their usual weekly sale in the Solway yards (Masterton) on Wednesday, April 19th, when they offered a yarding well above advertised numbers, but unfortunately the change of weather experienced this week did not help the sale, and we have to report a very dull sale, and practically the whole yarding went out unsold. They comprised principally wethers and store ewes, which were unsaleable. We quote as follows: Full mouth ewes to 7s Id; 2-tooth Southdown ewes to 9s; 2-tooth wethers, lis to lis 8cl; 1 chestnut gelding, "Sandix," brought £l3.

Messrs Abraham and .Williams, Ltd., report on their Masterton sale held yesterday as follows: We yarded more sheep than advertised, comprising wethers, lambs, and cull ewes. The attendance was fair, but buyers were not too prominent, and although business at auction was on the whole satisfactory, prices recorded were easier than anticipated after the recent rain. Some good wethers were offered, but only half the entry changed hands at prices equal to the previous week. Lambs were well competed, for, and all yarded were disposed of. Quotations. — Two-tooth wethers, 12s 6d to 13s, and lis 2d for smaller sheep; woolly lambs, 6s to 7s 6d and 8s 9d for an extra good lot; shorn lambs in good condition, 7s to 7s 3d; -cull ewes, 7s;-boilers, 4g Id.

The New Zealand Loan and Mer- j can tile- Agency Company, Ltd., report at their .weekly sale at Solway ! yesterday:— We offered a good average yai'ding in sheep of all classes, any lots in the catalogue* that were in strong and forward condition meeting with ready sales. Aged ewes, poor wethers, or weakly lambs- were hard to quit. We have little improve- ' ment in rates to record. Fat ewes up to 12s; medium, lis; fat maiden ewes and wethers, 13s Gd; very forward owes, JOs 9d; forward ewes, 9s; medium,-6s to 6s 6d; boilers, 4s; store wethers, medium, 10s to lis, small 8s to 9s; best lambs, Bs, medium 6s to 7s, small 5s to 5s 6d.
