' CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The Trades and Labour Cor. fere netthis morning agreed that Trades Unions should be empowered to investigate' alleged cases of breaches of the Factories Act and take cases to court, and carried a motion urging the Government to introduce legislation making the uco cf the "made in New Zealand" brand compulsory. There was a long discussion on the motion to reduce the hours per week under the Factories Act to 44,. An amendment in favour of 40 hours was rejected, and the original motion was carried.
