The death is announced of Mr J. A. Blair, of Wanganui, farmer. At onetime he was a nrominent footballer.

Mr Alex, Walker, one time a wellknown resident of Masterton. but now representative of Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., at Hunterville, is at present on a visit to this town.

Mr W. L. Falconer, of Masterton, is about to leave on a trip to the Old Country.

All the standing committees in New Zealand have approved of the nomination of the Rev. T. H. Sprott, Vicar of St. Paul's, Thorndon, to the bishopric of .Wellington. The'consecration ceremony is frked for June 6th.

Stevens, Inspector of Post and Telegraph Offices, the Rev. AW. Payne being the officiating minister.

At St. Patrick's Church, I'almerston, on Easter Monday, the marriage was celebrated by the Rev. Father Qiiealy, of Mr Charles Leslie McMinn, youngest son-of Mr Alex. McMinn, to Miss Martha Brady, eldest daughter of Mr Patrick Brady, of Oroua Downs.

A quiet, but extremely pretty, wedding was .solemnised in St. Mark's Church, Carterton, on Monday morning, by the Rev. R. Young, vicar. The contracting parties were Arthur, fourth son of Mr and Mrs Fred. B. Cave, of the Trocadero, Carterton, and Ruby Myrtle, eldest daughter of Mr John Ashton, of Brooklyn Road, Carterton. The newly married couple will reside at Eketahuna.

A pretty wedding took place at the Methodist Church, Dalefield on Monday, when Ellen Caroline Ethel, eldest daughter of Mr George Gordon, of Dalefield, was united in wedlock to Henry Herbert Curry, eldest son of Mr S. Curry, of Weston Super Mare, Coinerset, England. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. H. Standage. ■ .

* Mr C. T. Lloyd passed away at the age of 70 years at his* residenoe at iApiti on Sunday morning. He was an old identity, having resided in the Feilding district for some years. For 'some'time past he 'had been in a very low state of health.

Another of the very few remaining settlers who arrived aj Nelson in 1842 passed away recently at Wakefield. . The deceased, Mr Thomas Kinzett, had passed his 84th year,' having 'been born at Locksley, Warwickshire, on November 16th, 1826. Deceased had some experience on the Victorian goldftelds,. having been at Ballarat. He afterwards for. a tihie resided at Richmond, but for forty years had had his Home at Wakefield.
