AN EXCITING INCIDENT.
IN A MASTERTON STREET. A somewhat exciting incident ;■ recurred in Queen Street, Master! on, about five o'clock last evening. A gig, containing a young man, two ladies, and a child in arms, had just left the Prince of Wales stables when the horse slipped on the wet street and came down heavily. One of the lady occupants was thrown out, and a wheel of the vehicle passed over her legs. She was severely shaken and bruisd, but fortunately no bones were broken. The horse righted itself and made off down the street. As the driver had lost control of the reins, the position looked serious, as the horse was dashing in the direction of a street post. Constable Dumphy was fortunately on duty in,the neighbourhood at the time, and lie pluckily seized the horse's head, thereby averting furtner damage.
